Ford Edge SUV Compared to The Ford Escape SUV

Ford Edge SUV Compared to The Ford Escape SUV

Pickup trucks and SUVs are the favorites of buyers in the US, and it has remained this way over several years. One major reason for this is the ability to carry a large amount of load, although ruggedness and go-anywhere capability also contribute to their popularity. Ford has many products for its home market, which can be seen here.

Variants:

A major difference between the two premium SUV’s is that the 2021 Ford Escape offers a hybrid variant as well, keeping in mind the global demand for eco-friendly vehicles. The Escape does not get an ST-Line variant, but the Edge does. Here are the variant names- SE, Titanium, SEL, S, and Hybrid.

On the other hand, the following choices are available for buyers of the 2021 Ford Edge: ST-Line, SE, SEL, ST, and Titanium.

Exterior Appearance:

Those looking for a design that looks simple and does not have too many curves should take a closer look at the 2021 Ford Edge. In comparison, the 2021 Ford Escape looks edgier on the outside, like a product trying to ‘escape’ rules.

From the front, it seems as though the Escape is truly ready to ‘escape’, or race. The 2021 Ford Escape displays sedate cruiser looks in comparison to the Edge and has an overall streamlined appearance.

In terms of dimensions, both vehicles remain the same as before. The 2021 Edge stands at L 189” x W 76” x H 68” and the 2021 Escape at L 181” x W 74” x H 66”. There are only a few differences between the two in terms of tires- the Edge gets 18, 19, or 20-inch trims while the Escape gets 17, 18, or 19 inch tires.

Engine Specifications:

The 2021 Ford Escape gets two engine options in its latest avatar- a 2.0 liter, 4-cylinder hybrid powerplant which produces 250 hp of power and a 3-cylinder engine with 181 hp. Both engines are linked to 8-speed automatic gearboxes on both vehicles. Buyers get Front Wheel Drive and All Wheel Drive on both vehicles.

The other vehicle in this comparison, the 2021 Ford Edge, comes with a 2.0 liter turbocharged engine with 250 hp of power. Yet another engine is available here, which is a 2.7 liter EcoBoost twin turbocharged V6 with 335 hp. It gets 8-speed automatic transmission, but the ST variant gets a 7-speed automatic transmission.

Interior Appearance:

Both cars get soft touch surfaces on the inside, which is uncommon amongst cars at this price. The 2021 Edge ST is truly an excellent variant to own, being available with a 12 inch center screen fitted with SYNC ®4A. Facilities include Connected Built-in Navigation and optional cloud connectivity with conversational voice recognition.

Five passengers can be comfortably seated in the 2021 Ford Edge. Although the quality of interior materials is good, it does appear a bit dated at times. While the Escape may look more modern, it is not as comfortable as the Edge.

Available Towing Capacity:

Both the Escape and the Edge are capable of towing loads up to 3500 pounds.

Safety Features:

Ford Co360 safety program is standard on all company vehicles. It includes technologies such as:

·         Blind Spot Monitor

·         Lane Departure Warning

·         Cross Traffic Alert

·         Lane Keeping Assist

·         Traction Control

·         Stability Control
